IoT solutions often involve complex networks of stakeholders, including operators, developers, clients, investors, and even contractors. Since these parties are involved in the solution to varying degrees, not all of them require a user account with access to the process itself—some only need to be notified of specific events and outcomes.
With this latter group in mind, the Address Book module is designed to create contacts who can be notified about the operation and its day-to-day events by storing their contact details. Contacts can later be associated with events and reports to be easily kept up to date. Unlike regular Ubidots users, Address Book contacts don’t have access to the platform, as they do not have login credentials.
Requirements
An Ubidots account with Industrial plan or higher.
1. How to Create Contacts
To add contacts to your address book, follow these simple steps:
Apps ⟶ Users ⟶ Address Book.
Click on the “+” button located at the upper right corner of the module.
Type the name of the contact.
Optionally, tag the contact. This is useful when using the Notify User event action, where you can select the users, and contacts, to be notified by using tags.
By using the “+ add contact method” button, select one or all of the available methods and fill in the contact information. Available options are email, SMS, and voice.
Once you’re done, click on the “save” button.
You can edit or delete any contact using the button that’s to the right of every contact (the three dots).
